KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (Bernama) — Imprisoned former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib has been admitted to hospital, Health Minister Dr. Zalihah Mustafa confirmed on Thursday.
However, Zalihah refused to disclose the reason for his hospitalization, citing the need to respect his privacy.
“I can only confirm that he (Najib) has been admitted to hospital. However, the details of his condition and the treatment he is undergoing are confidential and I cannot disclose them here,” she told a press conference held at the House of Commons.
Several news portals reported that Najib was hospitalized on Thursday after testing positive for Covid-19. A spokesman said Najib is currently in stable condition.
Najib has been serving a 12-year sentence since his August 2022 conviction in the SRC International case.
